Our Mission

To rescue, rehabilitate and shelter dogs who have been neglected, abused, abandoned, and may have no other hope. "It's not a second chance, it's the chance they never had". We show these dogs that they can have a happy, quality life.

While we can provide all of the daily care the dog receive here, it's the donations that make it possible.

Accomplishments in 2008

What did we do in 2007?
What did we do in 2006?

We found homes for 68 dogs in 2008. This included a trip via caravan to Louisiana post Hurricane Gustav Pre Hurricane Ivan. Actually, we were following Ivan through Texas when we transported dogs to Colorado for adoption. These lucky dogs were left behind when families evacuated as most dogs in the region live outdoors year round. Most of these Hurricane dogs were sick with Parvo, Distemper, or Heartworm disease. It was a terribly emotional drive back as the shelters in the South need so much help and simply don't have it. One dog died in transport on our 27 hour drive back to Colorado and we lost one puppy in a litter as well. The rest of the litter was treated, and adopted out healthy!

We treated 11 dogs for the deadly Heartworm Disease, all of which turned out successfully.

We spayed and neutered 49 dogs this year, both our rescues, and assisting other small rescue groups and private citizens in financing their animals' surgeries.

New arrivals included:

Bagel-This delicious girl was saved from certain death in a kill shelter by another local rescue group who took great care of her but somehow, just couldn't find a home for her! They asked if we would give it a try and within a few months, we fell in love and then we found her THE BEST home with other animals and a terrific human family who love her to pieces!

Rufus-This guy sure had a tough life- for 5 years in a shelter, he was kept alive- but he was lacking so much- labeled a "biter", he had very little hope for a home until a few of his fans kicked in and brought him to us to help rehabilitate him and get him ready for the home he deserved. We did and boy is he living LIFE now! He is a spoiled and happy guy with amazing human parents anyone would hope for!!

Sox-Was a family dog but one day, the family decided to bring him to a shelter to be killed. They called him vicious as he had bitten the kids a few times. Luckily for Sox, our volunteer stepped in and offered to take him to us and we ALL fell in love with this confused dog and fast! Within weeks of leadership, play and confidence building, he was a changed dog and shortly after that he found the BEST HOME EVER. Actually, we're sure he and his mom found each other at just the right time!

There are countless others who were either mean, aggressive, unadoptable, vicious, who we lovingly took in, rehabilitated and have literally turned their lives around! They now live with other dogs, no longer bite, and are literally "fixed".

We can learn so much from the simplicity of animals who truly do live in the moment. There's no other way to explain how a dog who has had a life filled with mistrust and abuse, can love and trust a human again, and so fully.

We will always have a special place in our hearts for you- those extra special dogs, when we meet the next "unadoptable dog"- we think of you and always will. These are the special dogs that remind us that "YES WE CAN."

We hosted our 2nd Annual Charity Vegas Night and had over 300 guests at the beautiful home of Jeri and Runo Smith. Our Guest of honor was the very charming Cristian DeLa Fuente, of Dancing With The Stars and In Plain Sight and the night was HUGE FUN for everyone! Lauren Wanger, Miss United States was a wonderful (and beautiful) addition and she raffled off a date with the lucky winner. We danced with Cristian, and it was a fantastic night overall!

How You Can Help

There are many ways you can help our dogs:

Make a cash donation to help pay for veterinary expenses, or even sponsor a dog's care completely.

Sponsor a particular dog in our care- some dogs have been with us for months and even years before they are ready or adopted. By sponsoring a dog, we will send you regular updates on their status including photos and even visitation if you like!

Post flyers of our adoptable dogs in your lunchroom or office and help spread the word that adoption is the answer!

Don't EVER buy or support pet stores! No breeder who cares about their pets will sell to pet stores. It's a fact. Pet Stores promote greed and pain. Simple as that!

This year, more than ever, our few volunteers and friends have changed the WORLD for our dogs! They have put off work, life and truly been selfless in their mission to help dogs in need! NONE of what we do can be accomplished without you! Heartfelt thanks to you: Alex, Chloe, Heidi, Jen, Jeri, John, Lisa, Marcelle, Megan, Melissa, Michele, and Tori.
